Mark Goodger Antiques (originally Hampton Antiques) was founded in 1998 by Mark Goodger. Starting from a small market stall in Portobello Road, we have grown to become one of the world’s leading experts in our field. Proud members of LAPADA, CINOA, and CADA, we can assure you complete peace of mind and confidence when you buy one of our divine antiques. Furthermore, each piece sold comes with its own certificate of authenticity.
What makes us unique is our team’s collective hands-on experience in the Antique Industry, gained through handling thousands of antique boxes and accessories, led by Mark – who is devotedly passionate about his trade. We truly know antiques inside out. Our collection includes a wide range of Antique Boxes and Accessories – which have the benefit of use for decorative or practical purposes, as well as investment.
Mark found his passion for antiques in his late teens after starting a cabinet-making apprenticeship with an antique restoration company. His love and fascination for tea caddies began when his college tutor brought in a small wooden caddy for a French Polishing demonstration! Mark’s fondness for antiques led him to work for a dealer who specialised in antique boxes, where he was fortunate to learn not only all aspects of box restoration but also the skills of buying and selling in a very unique trade. Following his boss’s semi-retirement in 1998, Mark founded Hampton Antiques, the name inspired by “Hamtun” – the original Anglo-Saxon name of Northampton where Mark established himself.
Initially selling from the famous Portobello Road Antique Market in London, we then progressed, to exhibiting at Antique Fairs, our first being Antiques for Everyone in Birmingham, followed by Olympia, London. Over the years, we have acquired a fantastic team of restorers and conservators. We have diversified into selling antique accessories and Iconic Rene Lalique Car mascots. After being granted a LAPADA membership, we soon were accepted as a BADA member and had the opportunity to exhibit at their prestigious fairs in Berkeley Square and Duke of York Square in London. We exhibit at many different prestigious antique fairs across the country. Go to our Events page to find out how you can visit us.
Mark has very proudly sat on the CADA committee for almost 10 years and did several years for BADA. Mark also vets for various UK antique fairs and auction houses.
